Look beyond the numbers

Potential partners who look good on paper might not be the right fit for you. Be selective to increase the probability of a successful transaction. Ensure there is alignment across these key elements.
Objectives
Both parties’ objectives should be complementary so that each helps solve for the other’s needs. Identify the benefits of combining (e.g., more services, more locations).
Clientele
Do both parties serve similar clients? If not, ensure there are synergies (e.g., adding relevant services) or intentional differences (e.g., different market).
Culture
Differences in values and priorities can lead to low productivity, inconsistent client experiences and poor employee morale. Discuss your culture with prospective partners.
Investment process
Alignment to one streamlined investment approach is key to scaled growth. Compare your process with that of potential partners. Who would need to adapt?
