Katie Cullen, CFP

Katie Cullen, CFP®, is Head of BlackRock Business Consulting. She helps advisors identify opportunities to accelerate business growth to include collaborating with outside experts in all fields of growth leadership and transformation. Katie leads her team in conducting strategic consulting engagements, speaking and writing about industry trends, and facilitating executive forums and study groups. Her team also leads the award-winning Emerging Leader Lab, which prepares about 100 leaders every year to take on elevated roles within their firm and the industry. Katie and her team help advisors explore innovative solutions to enhance business efficiency, attract and develop talented professionals, differentiate their company’s brand positioning, and reimagine the client experience.

Katie’s experience in the financial services industry spans over 25 years with a focus on fostering authentic leadership, effective culture-building and organizational development. Prior to joining BlackRock, Katie led three think tanks comprised of global industry leaders, providing insights on client experience, business growth and executive coaching. She was also Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at a large RIA firm and Business Development Officer at Schwab Advisor Services. She also ran her own consulting firm, focused on marketing, operational efficiencies, and development / retention for wealth managers.

Katie earned a BA from the University of Minnesota and served 11 years as an Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. She is a member of the CFP Board’s Workplace Advisory Development Group, serves on the Board of Directors for Brighter Children which is a global venture philanthropic organization funding early-stage education entrepreneurs and is a volunteer with American Corporate Partners (ACP) helping military veterans transition to civilian employment. She lives in Minneapolis, MN with her husband and three children.
