Ashwini Apte

Ashwini Apte, CIMA, CAIA, AIF, AIFA, is U.S. Head of the Institutional Defined Contribution Consultant Relations Team within the Americas Institutional Business. Ashwini is primarily responsible for driving the channels revenue and growth, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with DC consultants in North America. She also oversees some direct institutional plan sponsor relationships. 

Ashwini was previously with NEPC for 13 years, where she was a Senior Consultant within the Defined Contribution Practice Group working with DC plans in all aspects of plan evaluation consulting. There she led the DC Research Advisory Group at NEPC. Prior to this, Ashwini was a retirement financial advisor at Morgan Stanley where she constructed and implemented comprehensive retirement portfolios. 

Ashwini is a member of the Chicago Women’s Investment Professionals Group, which supports women in the institutional investment community via professional, personal, and educational programs. She represents BlackRock as the DCIIA NY Ambassador, sits on the DCIIA Academic Forum Steering Committee and the DE&I Committee. She won the DCIIA DE&I Leaders Award in 2023. Internally in the organization, she led BlackRock's WIN EAST Mentorship Pillar and works with BlackRock's Financial Inclusion Program. She also has a love for travel and languages. 

Ashwini earned a Masters in International Finance from Brandeis University and a B.A. in Economics from Brandeis University. She became a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) in 2019, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst (AIFA) in 2018, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designee in 2015, and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designee in 2009. She also holds both Series 7, Series 63 licenses, insurance and producer licenses.
