Sulaiman bin Abdulrahman Al Gwaiz is the Chairman of BlackRock Saudi Arabia who has been a board member of different companies. He was appointed as the Governor of the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI). Prior to his appointment to the Board, he held several senior positions in the banking industry in the Kingdom.
Mr Al Gwaiz started his career at Saudi American Bank, or SAMBA as it was once known. He then moved to Riyad Bank taking several positions in regional retail branches management, operations, product development, and corporate business development. The last position was the bank’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Al Gwaiz earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Portland, USA.
A seasoned executive with over 13 years’ experience in global financial markets currently the CFO of Assila Investments and serves on the boards of Savola Group and Kinan Real Estate Company, with previous roles as Head of Balance Sheet Management & Investments and Head of Structuring & Trading at SABB (Saudi British Bank).
Mr. Mohammed earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.
Mr. Tarek Mahmoud is the Chairman of BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI), EMEA, a member of BAI global leadership team and a member of the EMEA Executive Committee.
Prior to taking on his current responsibilities in September 2018, Mr. Tarek was the head of BlackRock's Trading & Liquidity Strategies Group (TLS) for the international region, comprising EMEA and APAC. He was responsible for overseeing the firm's Trading functions, as well as the Cash Management and Securities Lending businesses, in those regions. Also Mr. Tarek had global responsibility for the Capital Markets function within TLS,
Prior to joining BlackRock in 2014, Mr. Tarek ran Sovereignty Capital UK, a risk advisory and wealth management firm, which he founded in 2010. Previously, Mr. Tarek worked in several executive positions across capital markets, most recently at Bank of America where he was Head of EMEA Sales and EMEA Equities. Prior to joining Bank of America, Mr. Tarek held senior management roles at Richmond Park Capital LLP, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Gen Re Financial Products, ING-Barings, and Banker's Trust.
Mr. Tarek earned a BA degree from Universite Aix-Marseilles in Economics in 1980 and a MBA degree from Babson College in 1983.
Yazeed Almubarak, Managing Director, is the Head of BlackRock Middle East and CEO of BlackRock Saudi Arabia. Mr. Almubarak is a member of the Financial and Strategic Investors Group (FSIG) Executive Committee and the Middle East Executive Committee. Mr. Almubarak is responsible for leading and overseeing BlackRock's Middle East business, devising and executing strategic growth initiatives across the region. Mr. Almubarak is a member of the board of directors of BlackRock Saudi Arabia (BSA) and Saudi Aramco Gas Pipeline Company (AGPC). He was elected to serve as a Committee Member at the Capital Markets Institutions Committee (CMIC) between 2020 and 2022, representing the investment management industry.
Prior to joining BlackRock, Mr. Almubarak was a Vice President at Jadwa Investment as part of the private equity investing team where he executed deals in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and served as a member of the board of directors and executive committees of portfolio companies. Prior to Jadwa Investment, Mr. Almubarak worked at Morgan Stanley in New York, London and Dubai as part of the investment banking division focused on mergers & acquisitions and equity capital market transactions.
Mr. Almubarak earned a B.S. in industrial and systems engineering with an honor distinction from King Fahad University for Petroleum and Minerals and a MBA from Stanford University.
Charles Hatami, Managing Director, is Global Head of the Financial and Strategic Investors Group (FSIG), which is responsible for the firm's engagement with the largest asset owners across the world.
FSIG comprises three independent businesses: Financial Markets Advisory (FMA), the Global Financial Institutions Group (FIG) and the Official Institutions Group (OIG). FMA delivers a range of capital markets, balance sheet management, and risk & analytics advice to banks, insurance companies and official institutions. FIG is the world’s leading insurance asset management business. OIG is responsible for the firm’s relationships with central banks, multilateral development banks and sovereign wealth funds, among others.
Charles is a member of BlackRock’s Global Operating Committee, Global Client Business Executive Committee, and the Global Executive Committee Strategic Clients Subcommittee. Charles also serves on the Board of BlackRock Saudi Arabia.
Prior to joining BlackRock in FMA in 2010, Charles was the Founder and Managing Partner of Xeryus Capital Management, a London-based boutique global macro hedge fund. He started his career working at Banco Itaú in Brazil, and previously in risk management at BNP Paribas in Germany.
Charles serves as an Advisory Board member of the MIT Golub Center for Finance & Policy, and as a Trustee of the Board at the Lycée Français de New York. Charles earned an MBA degree with concentration in finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, and an MSc. in Financial Engineering, with honors, from Leonardo Da Vinci Engineering School in Paris, France.
