Pierre Sarrau, CFA, Managing Director, is co-Head and Chief Investment Officer for Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions. He is also Head of Active Investment for EMEA. He is a member of BlackRock's Global Operating Committee and EMEA Executive Steering Committee.
The Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of BlackRock's index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and cutting-edge alpha insights. MASS constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels.
Mr Sarrau's service with the firm dates back to 2001, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers which merged with BlackRock in 2006. Prior to his current role, he was part of the Risk and Quantitative Analysis group where he was in charge of the team overseeing all multi-asset activities at the firm including Client Solutions and Multi-Asset Strategies. As part of his role Mr Sarrau has led the development of multi-asset risk analytics in Aladdin in partnership with BlackRock Solutions. Prior to joining the firm, he was the head of risk with a French Bank where he began his career in 1998.
Mr Sarrau is on the editorial board of the Journal of Investment Strategies. He earned a Diplome d'Ingenieur from Ecole Centrale de Lyon combined with a diploma in mathematical statistics from Cambridge University in 1997, and a diploma in accounting and finance from the London School of Economics in 1998.
