Christopher Weber
Head of Climate and Sustainability Research, BlackRock Investment Institute (BII)
Christopher Weber is Head of Climate and Sustainability Research within the BlackRock Investment Institute (BII). Dr. Weber leads a team focused on assessing sustainability trends, with a focus on climate change and the low-carbon transition, and developing analytical approaches and tools that support client goals around these themes.
He previously worked at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), where he was the Global Climate and Energy Lead Scientist. While at WWF, Dr. Weber played important roles in the Science-based Targets Initiative for climate and served as the first Technical Director of the nature-oriented Science-based Targets Network. He previously worked at the 2° Investing Initiative, where he led analysis and methodology development on climate-related risk and opportunities in investment portfolios. Dr. Weber's background in climate and sustainability research also includes academic research, government, and corporate sustainability consulting.
Dr. Weber earned a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa, a MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and a PhD in Engineering and Public Policy and Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon.
