Brent Patry, Managing Director, is Global Head of Equity Private Markets (EPM) and Capital Markets (BCM) at BlackRock. As head of Equity Private Markets, Brent is responsible for leading BlackRock’s direct private equity, private equity solutions, secondaries, and real estate investing businesses. Brent also leads the group's strategic priorities, including overall strategy, product offerings, and talent integration and management. He is a member of the Equity Private Markets Executive Committee, Global Executive Committee Investment Subcommittee, Global Operating Committee, Investment and Trading Policy Oversight Committee, and Managing Director Promotion Committee.
As Head of BlackRock Capital Markets, Brent is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of BlackRock’s centralized capital markets function globally, including liquid and alternatives financing, transition and private markets sourcing and origination, alternatives co-investing, and corporate solutions. BlackRock Capital Markets serves the entirety of the firm’s investment platform, spanning all public and private pools of capital, and provides the firm’s investors the ability to maximize deal flow and unlock greater alpha opportunities for the benefit of clients.
Prior to joining BlackRock in 2017, Brent spent over two decades leading, managing, and growing alternative asset origination and financing businesses. He is accomplished in financial sponsor and corporate account coverage in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. Most recently, Brent spent 19 years at Credit Suisse, where he held a number of management roles including Head of Leveraged Finance Capital Markets, Head of High Yield Capital Markets and Managing Director of the Financial Sponsors Coverage Group. In many of these roles, Brent's had senior responsibility originating and underwriting a broad range of transactions across the capital structure including loans, high yield, mezzanine, bridge loans and equities.
Brent earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) and Bachelor of Arts from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and is a CFA. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Global Lyme Alliance.
