James Sweeney

Managing Director, Global Fixed Income

James Sweeney is a Managing Director and the Head of Economics for Fundamental Fixed Income Investment Group. He joined Blackrock in 2022 in New York.

Previously, he was the Chief Economist and Regional Chief Investment Officer (Americas) for Credit Suisse, where he worked for 21 years in New York and London. James was a member of Credit Suisse’s global investment committee, its Americas operating committee, its Americas pension investment committee, and chairman of its Americas investment committee. He was previously head of Fixed Income Research and head of Fixed Income Global Strategy.

Before joining Credit Suisse, James worked as a political speechwriter. He has a MSc. Economics from the London School of Economics, and a BS, magna cum laude from Florida State University. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Economics Club of New York.
