Sandra Boss, Senior Managing Director, is the Chair of BlackRock UK. She works with the Head of BlackRock UK to engage with clients, corporates and policy makers and help bring the best of BlackRock’s global platform to the UK market. She also acts as strategic advisor to the Head of the International Business, which spans Europe, the Middle East, India, and Asia Pacific. She is a member of BlackRock’s Global Operating Committee.

 

In 2023, Sandy served as Chief Operating Officer for BlackRock’s Global Client Business, responsible for key elements of the firm’s commercial businesses with wealth managers, pension funds, insurers, family offices, endowments and official institutions. She led a firmwide initiative to transform delivery of BlackRock’s global capabilities to our clients locally and regionally.

 

From May 2020 through January 2023, Sandy was Global Head of Investment Stewardship for BlackRock. In that role, she was a member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee and was responsible for stewardship policy, engagement and voting, including pioneering the firm’s Voting Choice program.

 

Prior to BlackRock, Sandy served at the Bank of England as an external member of the Prudential Regulation Committee and the senior independent director and risk committee chair of the RTGS/Chaps Board, which oversees the system for high-value payments and implementation of monetary policy.

 

Sandy is a former Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, where she was a strategic advisor to executives and boards of global companies in banking, insurance, asset management, financial technology, and a wide range of other industries. She joined McKinsey in 1994 and was elected Partner in 2000 and Senior Partner in 2004.

 

Sandy has held several other advisory and non-executive roles. She is currently a member of the FCA Markets Practitioners’ Panel and a member of the Board of Trustees of The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA). Previously, she has served as a non-executive director at two public companies, Elementis Global and Enstar Group, and was a member of the Board of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC).

 

Sandy received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1994 and a BA from Stanford University in 1989, majoring in American Studies and Economics.
