In Memoriam Co-President
Charlie Hallac was Co-President of BlackRock, a member of the Global Executive Committee and Co-Chair of the Global Operating Committee.
Mr. Hallac's focus was on defining and driving the firm's strategy while developing its leaders and instilling the BlackRock culture in everything the firm does. The client businesses, investment groups and product management reported to Mr. Hallac and Mr. Kapito.
Mr. Hallac was Chief Operating Officer for BlackRock from 2009 to 2014. A co-founder of BlackRock Solutions, he previously served as head of that business. He was the initial architect of Aladdin® and many of BlackRock’s operating processes and continued to be involved in the evolution of Aladdin and in improving BlackRock’s technology and operations.
Prior to joining BlackRock in 1988, Mr. Hallac was an associate in the Mortgage Products Group at The First Boston Corporation. In 2001, Mr. Hallac, with his colleague, Bennett Golub, PhD, received the "Asset Management Risk Manager of the Year" award from Risk Magazine.
Mr. Hallac earned a BA degree in economics and computer science from Brandeis University in 1986.
